Thetigmamanukan is a magical bird from the mythology of the Tagalog people of the Philippines. It is said to appear as an omen to indicate whether an impending journey would be a success or not. If the tigmamanukan flew to the right, the journey would be fruitful, but if it flew to the left, it was a sign that the travellers would never return.
The tigmamanukan is also said to have been instrumental in the creation of the human race, pecking open the primordial bamboo from which the first man and woman emerged.
