tears moistened newt’s eyes, and thomas was sure that even within the dark chamber of memories that were locked away, out of his reach, he’d never seen someone look so sad.
It begins when Newt walks into a quiet bookstore in the corner to seek shelter from the heavy rain. Thomas, the storekeeper, sees the guitar strapped to his back and asks if he plays. Newt sings, and in return asks for a book recommendation. They start a bizarre exchange -a new book for a new song- every time Newt drops by, until one day Newt hands Thomas a CD of something he wrote and leaves with a smile. Listening to it later, Thomas’ heart skips. It’s a love song.
There’s a case of missing children that has gone unsolved for over a decade. Intrigued by its complexity, Newt decides to look into the case. He soon finds out that Thomas -the only boy to have escaped the kidnapper when he was 10- is also working on it secretly. Together, they begin connecting the clues in a case that has long been deemed impossible. Just as things start to make sense, Thomas receives a letter from the criminal threatening to hurt those who pursue him.
Newt is in danger, and Thomas vows to protect him at all costs.

When Thomas arrives in the Glade he finds he can see the world in colour: he has met his soulmate. Unfortunately, he has no memories of who they may be. But one thing’s for sure - he’s glad he has his new friend Newt by his side while he figures it out.
As Thomas and Newt attempt to navigate the perils of the maze, the Scorch, and the Last City, they begin to realise that maybe what they share is more than just a friendship. However, actions have consequences, and bad communication may lead to the harshest of them all.
