Mutuals: how would someone go about explaining Gilver to Vergil? Since canon shows that gil happened before dmc3, how do you explain the sheer brutality of what happened
Considering Dante seems to have figured out somehow that Gilver and Vergil weren’t the same person at some point, the only way I can see Gilver ever being brought up (due to Dante’s absolute reluctance to discuss anything regarding his trauma, especially the tragedy of Tony Redgrave) is if it was a situation that seriously affected both of the brothers, and Dante felt as if he neededto give his brother some information lest someone get seriously hurt, etc.
I’ve actually thought about how that conversation could potentially be brought up here, where Post-DMC5 Dante has a very severe reaction to seeing Vergil looking like Gilver (possibly shooting him on-sight as a gut reaction because the trauma of Gilver is that intense) and after a talk with Nero, realizing that he should give his brother some sort of explanation as to why he just shot/injured his brother out of nowhere - especially since as much as they fight, it’s almost always just sparring and they never just outright attack one another like that.
