there are probably more I’ve missed but like what is going on here
So I went from watching this military based TV show where all the action and stunts were Very Serious to watching a couple of Torchwood episodes and it has only now just occurred to me how Team Torchwood had a tendency to wave their guns around like a huge bunch of dorks.
Hopefully it’s only a temporary interruption to my current Star Trek obsession, but I’m thinking about Torchwood again.
More specifically, I’m thinking about Ianto Jones. And even more specifically, I’m thinking about the way I’ve personally chosen to resurrect him. Because as much as I love the Time Lord headcanon, I have an Alternate Idea involving Ianto’s grave, a poor TARDIS parking job that really wasn’t 13s fault, and a sentient spaceship fuel leakage that may or may not have been on purpose. Because the TARDIS actually likes Jack, and maybe she feels a little guilty about all those times she tried to shake him off. Maybe she thinks she owes him something.
Ianto Jones wakes up in 13s TARDIS, glowing with Time Vortex energy, a scar on his cheek that will never heal, in the suit he was buried in and staring at the woman who was once a man his boyfriend loved. Maybe more than he ever loved Ianto. And he wants to be angry but he’s just tired.
13 doesn’t like Torchwood any more than the rest of the doctors, but she knows all about Ianto Jones, the man Jack Harkness never got over. And she has her fam now. It can’t really hurt to make Ianto a part of it. If he decides to stay.
I wish the Moffat era had a spin-off or two. I loved when in series 1-4, Torchwood and SJA tied into it several times and finally all came together for a big finale in The Stolen Earth/Journey’s End. It’s something I’d like to see more of in Doctor Who.
