Rei: Tsuzuki-san, isn’t it hot? I spotted something good so I bought it.
Kei: Something good? Whatever could it be?
Rei: I got us shaved ice. I came across it by chance at the konbini when I was buying water for you. Ice is originally water, even Tsuzuki-san can eat it. How about it?
Kei: Thank you, Rei-san… It seems like I should eat it now. I can’t eat it very fast so it melting is a problem.
Rei: It is… Hm, then I have an idea. Please wait for a moment.
(Rei leaves and returns)
Rei: I lowered the temperature of the air conditioning. Now it should take longer for it to melt.
Kei: …It’s cold, isn’t it. If it’s like this then I won’t even have to eat shaved ice.
Rei: Oh no, that wasn’t what I wa-.. I didn’t think this through properly…! …Achoo!
Some notes while reading Cafe Parade event Long Night. Not a full summary as significant parts missing.
asselin - aaron; eldest brother, popular actor
shinonome - claude; second eldest, brother complex, hotel’s doorman
kamiya - gray; third brother, shrewd businessman, skilled and ambitious
saki - martha; eldest sister, opera singer, highly confident
makio - roland (nickname rolly); youngest child, hotel’s manager
all share the surname of midner. but no blood relation; all orphans.
setting is a old fashioned hotel. martha notes it’s nothing like the 5 star hotels in the city. while roland and claude work in the hotel, the rest are visiting for their caregiver’s (the former hotel owner) funeral.
clock stopped at 11.59pm. martha thinks it’s just because it’s old so it broke, but finds that door and windows can’t open. martha asks claude to do something about it since he’s the doorman, but he requests some respect since beside being a doorman he’s also their brother.. but martha says that a no-talent, good-for-nothing deserves no respect – which seems to be the one thing that really presses claude’s buttons. roland comes and breaks up the fight.
aaron seems to have the same recurring dream of the above scenario, only there are slight differences here and there, such as martha accidentally slapping roland, martha mentioning there’s something odd about the elevator, someone being killed. he seems to be able to remember these ‘dreams’. under the elevator seems to be some secret.
roland seems to understand the recurring scenarios too. thinking of ways to survive the night without anyone being killed.
however, roland is the exact cause of their death. he wishes the five live together in the hotel forever. if he kills then he loops back the night.
he explains that he’s lonely. as the five grew up, they left the hotel. only as their father-in-law died did they gather again. if he lets them get away who knows how long it’ll be until they gather again.
aaaaaaaaaand they’ve been repeating the same day for 20 years ???????????
