I feel like toddler/little kid Richie was the type to bring their friends and mom random stuff from outside like,
Richie (4) running at FULL speed at Maggie with pockets just full of stuff
He walks up and just dumps a hand full of stuff (a greenish rock, a bottle cap, a bug and a leaf) and is just BEAMING at his mom (she awkwardly has to be like I love it.. )
Richie carried this into teen hood and the losers all have some sort of weird rock/stick gifted from Richie (Eddie has a box of dumb little trinkets Richie finds)
Ok, but, hear me out, Eddie who decides to drive to LA to get to Richie and is so focused on him and confessing his love that he falls off the face of the earth as far as the Losers are concerned because all Eddie is doing is driving and sleeping.
His phone is turned off. He’s not answering calls.
Ben went to check with Eddie’s work and they said he quit by email, which the Losers decide sounds very suspicious.
Richie is convinced Myra is holding Eddie hostage. They all know how bad Eddie’s divorce is going.
Richie and Bill are making plans to fly to New York to look for Eddie.
In fact Richie is on the phone with Bill, making flight plans, when there is a knock on his door.
He opens it to find Eddie - dishevelled, tired, looking nervous as hell.
“Eddie!” Richie says, dropping the phone.
They can both hear Bill’s voice, far-away and tinny, shouting for Richie to tell him what’s happening.
“Rich,” Eddie said, breathing like he’s run a marathon.
“You escaped,” Richie says dumbly.
Eddie laughs.
“Yeah, you could say that I suppose,” he says, not aware that Richie believed he was literally being held captive.
Then he steps closer to Richie, going up on tiptoes to wrap his arms around Richie’s neck and kiss him soundly.
They break the kiss and Richie can’t say anything. He’s too busy beaming stupidly at Eddie, who is beaming right back.
“I drove all the way from New York to do that,” Eddie says, his voice faint with wonder, as if he can’t quite believe he did.
Richie picks him up and spins him around while Eddie shrieks, just like they were kids again, and from the phone on the floor Bill asks plaintively to be told what’s happening.
okay, the it movies have their flaws but nothing will ever compare to the feeling of seeing richie carve r + e into the kissing bridge for the first time
i fully knew he was going to do that before i watched the movie and yet even as i saw it happening i was like wow he REALLY did do that huh
Okay so what if a reddie au where Richie is trans but doesn’t come out or begin his transition until after the first Pennywise battle. They leave and forget each other but later on Eddie is starting to understand his sexuality and meets Richie, who has transitioned, by chance. They don’t remember but the familiar feeling is there and they start seeing each other, eventually moving in together and eventually getting married. Eventually Eddie gets the call from Mike who says he’s struggling to find Richie since his dead name doesn’t get them to the right person. Eddie starts leaving, not realizing that Richie is the person they’re looking for, but after giving Richie some vague details they connect the dots and realize what’s going on. It’s a tearful realization but when pennywise is defeated once and for all, they celebrate it with a vow renewal but with the losers this time.

I personally 1000000% would. I LOVEEE fics where reddie is together without knowing and they get called back and the losers are all shocked but reddie is too ajdjdjd. And the trans aspect makes it more original
Was Richie’s sexuality something you discussed with Andy Muschietti before filming started?
Andy and I talked about how overt we should make it, and I said if it’s not overt, then why is he in the movie? You can’t do a half measure on it. You’ve got to go the full way or don’t even allude to it. Let’s not be coy. Let’s just say what it is.
Did knowing this detail about him affect how you played the character?
It just gave me more to play. We did a lot of different versions of Eddie’s death scene. We did one where he’s clearly dead, and I’m refusing to recognize it. And some where I was very tender with him, where I’m caressing his face — this is the person I love, and it wasn’t just lust. It’s truly love.
[In other scenes] I was playing off James, but knowing on some level that I loved him. It’s something [Richie] can’t connect to, so he has to hate that thing. It’s very adolescent. “I have a crush on you, but I don’t want to tell you that, so I’m going to push you away. But man, if he made the first move, that’d be the best thing ever.”
There was just no possibility that Richie could have been mature and told Eddie how he really felt about him?
I think with Eddie, it’s frozen like that. It’s like when you’ve known someone forever. My best friend, Duffy, we’re good, but we’re kind of stuck in the age we first started hanging out, at 15. Or like when you get together with your siblings. You revert back because your relationship’s been established at a certain age.
There’s little moments where I tried to play that. [When the Losers’ Club has its first adult reunion] Richie might be in a place where, he’s like, I don’t really care about him anymore. And then he immediately gets smashed. He sees Eddie’s there. He’s like, oh yeah, feelings still there — I’m going to get drunk.
