At first I thought that it was kinda arbitrary/out of nowhere.

If you asked me, I’d say that Rupert’s best quality is his passion and determination towards the things and people he cares about, or maybe his wits and cunning.Heck, I was surprised Malkia was included in that speech, since Rupert was pretty convinced she was evil after they fled the castle.

But from Amir’s perspective? It makes perfect sense.

He looked down on and was a prideful jerk to “Fitz” when they first met, and yet instead of leaving, Rupert broke past that facade, got Amir to see his mistakes AND open up about himself, and still fell in love with him!!!

And when Amir lost his memories Rupert never lost hope and refused to believe he was gone! Granted, he was kind of a jerk to Chad, but when Amir looks back he probably remembers Rupert talking about Amir’s good qualities that he was trying to see in Chad.

So OF COURSE Amir sees Rupert’s trying to see the best in everyone as his best quality, Rupert made an effort to see the good in him, twice, and both times it saved their kingdoms!!!

Anyways that speech makes me cry every time, thanks for coming to my TED Talk

All of this, but I’d also like to add: Amir brings this up when Rupert’s feeling regretful about trusting Darling!

Amir thinks this is Rupert’s best quality EVEN THOUGH it doesn’t always play out nicely or benefit them.

He loves Rupert, and everything about Rupert, even when things go south. And as someone who grew up thinking that I had to be perfect because love is conditional, and that people will only love you when it’s convenient for them, that’s a really powerful message.
