OTP Prompt 63from@just-another-otp-prompt-blog

Person A runs into Person B’s workplace randomly one day. Before Person B can even finish asking if something is wrong, Person A presses a kiss to their lips.

B: “um– thank you. But, what?”

A: “you left without waking me up this morning, jackass.”

It was 9:30 A.M. and Lily was already eyeballs deep in a terribly complicated sales contract, so she literally jumped when her administrative assistant’s voice crackled through her phone. “Ms. Evans?”

She inhaled sharply, then exhaled slowly, composing herself. “Yes, Peter?”

Peter’s voice came out in a squeak. “Erm, someone’s here for you. He seems irritated.”

“I’m reviewing docs for the Burke account, Pete, so I’m a little busy. Whoever it is, he’ll have to wait. Or better yet, come back later.”

She heard a bit of mumbling on the other end, then Peter was back on the line. “He says it’s urgent, ma’am.”

Lily bit down on her irritated response and sighed instead. “Who is it, anyway?”

She’d barely finished speaking before James burst into her office in a t-shirt and grey cotton joggers, of all things. The t-shirt hugged his chest and the trousers hung low around his hips, and Lily could see every muscle in his thighs as he strode towards her. He had a bit of stubble around his sharp jaw, and it was clear he hadn’t combed his hair before leaving the house.

He was gorgeous.

“All right, Evans?” he asked, his hazel eyes boring into her as he approached.

She blinked and tried not to lick her lips. “What are you doing here?”

Instead of answering, James placed both palms on her desk, leaned forward, and took her mouth with a kiss.

“Mm,” Lily hummed softly and melted into him, her lips parting for his and her tongue darting into his mouth for a quick taste before he slowly withdrew. She exhaled unsteadily as he straightened up.

“Oh!” Her mind felt a bit fuzzy, but her lips curved into a smile. “Thank you. But, erm, what was that for?”

James did not smile. Instead, his eyebrows furrowed as he ducked his chin and peered at her over his glasses. “You,” he said, wagging a finger at her, “left without waking me, you cheeky monkey.”

That earned him a full-throated laugh. “Well, I wanted to let you sleep,” she explained, tilting her head in amusement. “You haven’t got practice this morning, and I had to leave before eight. I was trying to be considerate.”

“That’s all well and good, but you have to kiss me before you go,” came the stern reply. James braced himself on her desk again and poked out his bottom lip. “No matter what time I have get up, my day is shit if i don’t get to kiss you first.”

“Aw, I’m so sorry, darling,” Lily murmured, reaching out to cup his cheek. She suspected her own cheeks were flushed bright red, given how warm she was feeling. “Never again.”

“I’ll hold you to that,” James warned, his tone gruff but his eyes sparking. “Or else I’ll come storming in here every day, interrupting your business meetings and raising hell until I get to feel your lips on mine.”

Lily suppressed an intrigued shudder and raised her eyebrows defiantly. “Is that a threat, Potter?”

One side of James’ mouth lifted in a grin, and he folded his arms over his broad chest. “Absolutely,” he said calmly.

“Hmm.” Lily leaned back in her chair and gave him an appraising look. “I think I wouldn’t mind that, honestly,” she said, and there was a hungry edge to her smile, “as long as you promise you’ll always wear those joggers.”
