#varrai
The first two sketches that put me on a road of no return, just a dumb doodle of my DnD tief Karrai smooching the group paladin Valais which proved too much for us and stuff happened and now it’s a long story (literally)
(Valais belongs to Kromitar, go check them out they’re an amazing artist and storyteller!)
MORT UPDATED HIS TUMBLR so you can see his contribution to Valais/Karrai cuz Karrai is his character. Sorry for the reblogs but since some of my followers seem to like these two, I want to share these with you too!
Anyway these two damn drawings started the whole mess lol.

There’s angst. And Lynne, who’s Valais’ friend, former tavern maid and current paladin disciple.
Also Karrai.
Like ok right these two have a story and I might as well tell it: they met (in a game a friend DMd in early 2020), fell for each other, Valais became Karrai’s bodyguard because both wanted to be close to each other but didn’t want to own up to their feelings. Also one is a lawful good paladin and the other is a career criminal rogue. So not exactly a match made in heaven. OR IS IT?? Valais was certain Karrai would not return his feelings and Karrai has committment issues and years of bad relationship baggage.
They eventually got it out of their systems and were together (and happy??? At least Valais was but he’s naïve) for a time.
Until Karrai left and disappeared without saying anything because of all those issues and out of fear of eventually hurting Valais or maybe Valais would hurt him because that’s what always happens.
A year passed.
They’re currently in a homebrew game I’m DMing as awkward exes who probably still really love each other a lot. Or maybe not? Is Karrai over his issues, did he ever really like Valais that much or did he just want validation? Can Valais forgive Karrai for leaving and breaking his trust?
Anyway Valais is a depressed and insomnia-ridden bundle of self-esteem issues. Who knows about Karrai (because he’s not my character haha).
Yup so that’s where we’re at.
