Eden - Palace hotel, present & past. The hotel opened around 1900 in a brand new building which was overlooking the Ezbekiyya Gardens; guests in the better rooms would wake to birdsong, and a view of trees and greenery when they opened the shutters. Not much is left of its former glory and the sad remains are being devoured by the chaotic souq on the Attaba square. The second photograph was taken from a place close to what used to be this lovely green roundabout shown on the postcard.
