Non Sequitur, but it’s Janeway that goes back.

expanding

I was just kind of thinking of how the whole ‘losing the fiance’ thing doesn’t really land emotionally, in part because what we see of Mark is Generic Man on a video call for about two seconds.

And that got me thinking about seeing Janeway in her home environment and that got me thinking about Non Sequitur.

I don’t know how the rest of the fandom feels, but that ep is kinda boring. The only good parts to me are between Harry and Tom. The concept isn’t bad. But I think doing it with Harry was a mistake (sorry Garrett).

The entire point of an episode like that is to see this character back home. It’s to provide some kind of insight, some new angle on them, or a piece of backstory that puts them in a new light. With Harry, none of that really exists. Unless we were to discover some new information, like his home life was actually terrible or something, but his life is pretty much what everyone already knew.

It’s also about making that character choose to go back to the delta quadrant. In that respect I guess I can see picking Harry who always wants to be back home. But then again there’s really no doubt in my mind that he would do the ‘right’ thing.

Janeway would be a good candidate because we really don’t see her at all outside of being the captain. So to see her as a person and have her very blatantly make the sacrifice of a family and a life to get back to her crew could have been interesting, if maybe a bit on the nose.

Basically any of the Maquis could have been interesting, because you could see them in that different environment and get a look at who they were as rebels.

I don’t think Tom would be good, because we already know his deal. Nothing new really to be learned there.  etc…

idk. some thoughts.

From the other side it’s cool, but this is just funny.

The Disease. In which Voyager meets a generational ship that does the exact opposite of stick its head into every potentially dangerous nebula, and the crew are ready to mutiny so they can do just that.

this is my ‘charming’ smile

are you being charmed?

is it working?

VOYAGER IS GOOD

I think Janeway and Harry grew closer in the original timeline as two of the people to not get effed up. Tuvok disintegrating, Seven gone, Chakotay…idk, bitter? distant? too sad?, and the Paris people raising their kid, I think she would have relied on Harry a lot to help hold the ship together.

I’m the freak who loves Course: Oblivion for how bleak it is.
