Chapter 12: Let Her Go is officially live on AO3+FFN!
TEASER:
Jakotsu froze for a moment, stopping in their tracks which had Kagome do the same a few steps later. Staring at jakotsu, she blinked a few times, seeing them simply stare at her before suddenly they broke, “I like you,” they stated with a sense of genuine lilt.
“What?” Kagome asked without thinking; that had been the last thing that she’d thought they’d say.
“I like you. Kikyo was always such a stick-in-the-mud but you seem like you actually have a personality,” Jakotsu stated rather confidently before beginning their pace once again.
“Ohー” Kagome began, watching as Jakotsu took a few steps ahead of her, “Thanks…I guess,” she replied before following them.
As they neared the main firepit, Kagome could see all of the soldiers seated around it, laughing with a sense of merriment as they kept themselves warm in front of the flame.
“Oy! Jak!” The two of them heard a soldier call out, causing both Kagome and Jakotsu themself to stop in their tracks, “How’s babysitting duty!?” The soldier finished before hearing an eruption of laughter around them.
At first, it seemed Jakotsu had joined in on the laughter while walking towards the group of men who were high-fiving each other with a sense of bravado.
“Hey!” Kagome replied with an indigent stomp of her foot, “It’s not like I want to be followed around byー” Before she could continue, she was cut off at the sight of Jakotsu colliding their fist against the soldier’s face, knocking him back off his log and onto his back.
“You’re lucky our Lord didn’t hear that…’’ Jakotsu stated with a somewhat darkened tone before casually grabbing the tankard of alcohol from the soldier’s hand before taking a seat on the log said soldier once occupied, “My Lady,” Jakotsu called out before patting a spot on a log right by them, “Come sit.”
