#we are at work

LIVE

I don’t care that Dan Akroyd said it on TV in 1977.  I would prefer it if you did not say “Jane, you ignorant slut,” all the goddamn time, ESPECIALLY when you are talking about one of our senior employees, who happens to be NAMED JANE, and who is neither of those things.

Seriously.  I get word association, okay, and I get that you don’t mean our Jane when you say it, but GOD FUCKING DAMN IT I have asked you at LEAST twice to please not say that phrase at work anymore.  Frankly, I think it’s a little weird that I had to ask a THIRD time.

But no.  NO.  You will NOT convince me that “it’s fine” because it’s “part of our cultural heritage as Americans."  FUCK YOU.  I will not apologize for correcting you, nor will I apologize for raising my voice to tell you that what it actually is, is demeaning and offensive.  Just like a lot of the things you say that are chauvinist or misogynistic or disrespectful or a charming blend of all of the above, which I have repeatedly asked you to stop saying.  I know you think it’s funny.  It is not.

No love, go fuck yourself with a rake, sincerely,

H
