So incredibly proud of this guy. I was at a relative’s and went into a panic attack. Luckily I had treats and had him go into his DPT position. He stayed perfectly until I let him know I was okay.
I brought Yuma out to see if I could get any nice photos of him and my skulls but sadly these are all I got (and a broken raccoon skull). We don’t call him a hellhound for nothing!
It’s been awhile! A lot of stuff happened and with school starting I didn’t have much time to update our blog! Sadly Yuma may be washing from SD training but only time will tell.
Sorry we’ve been gone for so long, I’m sure you all know how unpredictable disability is! While we were away Yuma got a new collar, his last one was way too big.
Image one (1) description: A white shepherd puppy sitting on the floor of a kitchen with a steel fridge behind him is looking up at the camera with his mouth open. The floor is a smudgy, stone-like tile, beige in color with white plaster between each tile. In the upper right corner an aluminum food storage rack with a bright blue bin peaking out can be seen. Next to the rack a smaller, black food storage rack is visible. The puppy is wearing a peachy pink belt style collar with a gold buckle and a small gold tag on it.
Image two (2) description: The same white shepherd puppy is laying on a beige carpet. His head is up off the ground and his body is facing to the west where he is looking straight ahead. He is wearing the same collar with more of it revealed. The peachy pink leather part of the collar can still be seen but a diamond pattern consisting of alternating teal, light mint, and salmon pink is now visible. In the very top of the picture a black bookcase is barely seeable and in the upper right corner a striped, neutral colored cat scratching toy next to a pink and cream soft goat dog toy are visible.
We went to my therapy appointment today and he did pretty well! I wasn’t asking for much out of him, it was mostly just for socialization but he settled quickly. We had a minor oops moment when a large lab came out and startled him, he wasn’t very appreciative of the lab’s manners haha. Most people were really respectful, one lady apologized after asking if she could pet him once she saw his patches and parents made sure their kids didn’t pet him. One even said that he was working so they couldn’t distract them. There was an older teen who tried to secretly pet him but gave up after he couldn’t reach without standing up.
He did pee on himself in the car which was entirely my fault for letting him drink a bunch of water before leaving so he got a bath once we got home. My weird, soggy boy.
Image one (1) description: A white shepherd puppy lays in the backseat of a car. The car’s interior is black. He is looking at the camera with his tongue out wearing a red flat collar, a matching leash, and a red vest. The vest has a black hem, reflective material lining the bottom edge, and one (1) patch that says “in training service dog” on each side’s zip up pocket.
Image two (2) description: The same puppy, now lacking any of the previous gear, is staring up at the camera on all fours (4), fur damp. He is on beige carpet with a similar colored couch, covered in a white blanket and a powder blue pillow, on the left and a white cabinet in the hallway on the right behind him. The walls of the house are cream with a brown trim. There is a white vent coming from the wall. On the floor there is a white washcloth and a white scratching post just behind him.
He figured out how to open doors and unlatch our yard’s gate, I can’t believe this guy. He also learned that he can cheat his slow feeder bowl by picking it up and dumping it out.

Sorry for the absence y’all, my disabilities are getting harder and harder to deal with. The boy and I went for a tough 2 mile walk/hike. He loved it. Me? Not so much. Mr. Handsome’s getting in shape for weight pull training! Gonna wait till I can get his OFA elbow/hip ratings done, but in the meantime we’ll just focus on stamina and strength. If anyone wants to help us get his weight vest that would be the coolest ;P
