#what is fridging

LIVE

Sarah J Maas definitely shouldn’t kill off Helion, and I definitely don’t want her to, and I also don’t think anyone I’ve ever spoken to about it wants her to.

Sarah fridged Nehemia and I really hope she learned her lesson from how upset people were about that, and that she won’t kill Helion for Lucien’s character growth.

Some people feel like there have been signs in the narrative that Helion might be killed, I.E. the danger in his affair with LOA and parallels that can be drawn between him and Gavriel. I don’t personally think there’s enough evidence or info given about Helion to predict any direction in which his character may be moving, but I understand that people interpret the text differently.

I really hope we can all agree right now that NONE OF US wants to see Helion die. He’s pretty awesome and he’s obviously already suffered enough in his life, and he has Pegasi and his court is literally library world and that sounds fucking dope.

I would encourage everyone to read about the origins of the term fridging and the bury your gays trope, these articles are super helpful and informative!

Note: I included the Fem article about fridging because it explains the origin of the term, but I take issue with the fact that it doesn’t acknowledge the massive role intersectionality plays in the practice of modern fridging, so definitely read the second one, as that centers POC, WPOC, and queer POC, which is essential to understand.
