“Great, two fuckin’ grand down the drain. Not to mention all of the drafts and shit,” the redhead sighed from the couch of their living room. You looked at them curiously, considering Crow almost never complained, and seldom did they cuss more than occasionally. Your friend looked up at you and smiled, the frustration from their face disappearing beneath a cheerful mask. It would’ve been impossible to tell, had their eyes not been red and irritated from tears streaming down their cheeks.

“You okay?”

“I’m alright. Just a little upset. Nothing that hasn’t happened before.”

“What happened?”

After you asked them this, their lips pressed into an uncomfortable line. “My, uh… my laptop has been reduced to ten pounds of overly expensive metal. Guess if someone hurts you, it’d be a pretty good weapon to bludgeon them to death with,” the writer laughed awkwardly, rubbing the back of their neck.

You really needed to stop them before they did something reckless.
