I also like how this isn’t a group of random nobodies that stumble into saving the world. This is a group of high-profile, very powerful people who (in all likelihood) have the best odds to prevent tragedy and it’s all going to end in failure.
Like… I want to see the point each of these people break. When each of them realizes the inevitable and how they cope with that realization.

One of my favorite whump tropes is techie/smart member of the team and the resident badass/tough dude (I use dude as a gender neutral term) like I love all the scenarios
- Tech person getting injured and having to provide instructions to resident badass because they have no idea what they’re doing. Trying to get patched up while on the verge of passing out and the other desperately drying to keep them awake. Lots of good dialogue here.
-When the techie gets captured and the badass goes BALLISTIC to go rescue them. (bonus if they had just recently had an argument and the techie felt like they weren’t a valuable part of the team)
- Techie goes through something traumatic and talking to their badass about it because they know that tough person has gone through it before
- Tough dude being the one to rescue the techie and being the one to tell them its all over
I use this trope for all my ocs its so good
Yesss one of my favourite whump tropes too. Especially when the tech person:
- is the non-action person of the team and needs the Badass members of the team to protect them when things get physical.
- has a smaller build compared to the rest of the team.
- has a secret that the whumper knows about and uses it the blackmail them into being the mole.
