Hey ARMY! Today is the start of our #ArmyDidYouKnow Comeback Edu series. We’re excited to work with all of our accounts to share information about charts, streaming, radio, sales, and the other ways ARMY can prepare to support and enjoy Proof. We begin our edu with Billboard charts and RIAA certifications. They are 2 of the most significant symbols of success in the US music industry. Before we dive in, here is a glossary of music industry terminology :
The Hot 100 is Billboard’s singles chart. The basics of the chart are outlined in these 2 posters. With ARMY’s hard work, we’re sure we can get “Yet to Come” to number 1!
The Billboard 200 chart is an album chart. Check out this poster to learn the different ways that sales and streams are combined to calculate overall sales. Please note the specific rule about anthology albums like Proof!
Did you notice that buying individual songs counts for album charts too? 10 permanent digital downloads are considered a Track Equivalent Album, or TEA. ☕️
