I didn’t know at the time but I was shortly to get very close-up and acquainted with this mud!

Day 1136- which way?

As it turns out, I really should have chosen the high tide route even though it was low tide!

Day 1136 - “Build” lyrics by the Housemartins on a tree hoping to inspire the protection of some woods near Hull

Such a fabulous song but, at the risk of being overly pedantic, I have two issues with this sign. Firstly “Build” originally appeared on the Housemartins’ album “The People who Grinned Themselves to Death” rather than “Soup” which is really a combined greatest hits of both the Housemartins and the Beautiful South. Secondly the whole four lads from Hull thing with the Housemartins has always been a bit fake. Only the drummer (both versions!) was actually from Hull. Other more genuine Hull bands available at that time includethe Red Guitars (who I’ve seen a couple of times) and Indians in Moscow (whose song Naughty Miranda was probably the last 45 single I purchased). To be fair to the Housemartins they always described themselves as “the fourth best band in Hull”. Anyway with or without the Hull connection, the Housemartins were a brilliant band and it is such a shame I never saw them live so I’ll have to be content with seeing this sign.

Day 1137 - the Little Wold Vineyard, South Cave

I was surprised to find a vineyard so far north in the UK. I would be interested to know of any more northerly vineyards
