Young Einstein gender-bent cosplay is currently underway! Since there is a whole generation who haven’t had the privilege of having @yahooserious.official as part of their upbringing - swipe left to see a little tribute video I threw together. Yahoo Serious - His name perfectly defines the man who loved to have fun in his film making but also shed light on his social and political views. Views that were modern for his time - views that we are still working hard towards today. Anyone who didn’t see his views under the comedy labelled his films as “silly”. I learned a lot about equality, peace, enjoying life and seeing things from many perspectives from this Yahoo. His characters were all respectful towards women (and often they were portrayed smarter than male characters! Hows that for 80s and 90s perspective?) A creative genius and a National Icon of Australia that we should welcome back with open arms. Back to work for me but for now show this post ❤️ if you agree✌ Enjoy #yahooserious #youngeinstein #cosplayer #cosplaying #cosplaygirl #australian (at Melbourne, Victoria, Australia)

“A Serious Mission” complete! -SWIPE see the journey and location/film comparisons. For the last wee

“A Serious Mission” complete! -SWIPE see the journey and location/film comparisons. For the last week I have trekked from my home in Melbourne to Sydney, Wollombi and Newcastle in search of the film locations of my next cosplay “Young Einstein”. It was also a journey to greater understand the man who not only starred in, produced and directed the film but unknowingly had an enormous influence on me to think outside of the box and be proud of my culture and eccentricities. His philosophies & messages within his films were well ahead of his time, with a majority of them ringing true today. I thought I’d completed my journey in Newcastle, where Yahoo Serious was born, raised and studied, but the bigger question still left unanswered..“why did he just disappear?!” Upon my return home, I stopped into Canberra to visit a good friend of mine and decided to continue my research at the National Library where I found a collection of articles from the early 90s. Some being relatively positive, the rest threw me back in my chair from what I felt incredibly cruel and unjust. My vibe was definitely shot to pieces. Tall Poppy Syndrome at its finest and something I’m all too familiar with. Nothing cool about tearing down and ridiculing an individual who is passionate about their work. Especially when it’s one of your own. It’s no surprise the Australian Film industry struggles when our media has trashed our talent. Maybe that’s why Yahoo flipped the bird and put his passion elsewhere. Who really knows if we can’t find him. What I do know as a cosplayer, is I’ve experienced the same tear downs & ridiculing for loving the things I do by people who don’t get it. That doesn’t make me wrong or their opinion fact. So I am asking the cosplay community for help because we are the wildly eccentric, creative and passionate individuals who celebrate geeky - pop culture! Let’s surround Yahoo with support and invite him to join our realm. The support for my journey has been overwhelming and I would love the opportunity to shake this man’s hand and remind him there are people out there who still love & respect his work. Me included❤️ #YahooSerious #youngeinstein #recklesskelly #australian (at Melbourne, Victoria, Australia)

ALERTING ALL Australian 80s Nostalgia geeks. Young Einstein finally made the pilgrimage home! In hon

ALERTING ALL Australian 80s Nostalgia geeks. Young Einstein finally made the pilgrimage home! In honour of my favourite Australian film “Young Einstein” and its creator the amazing Yahoo Serious, I decided to trek my way along the east coast of Australia to all the filming locations of this bizarre twist on Albert Einstein. Although I did need a fine tooth comb -I can’t believe I found the house! A now converted granny flat, this is the original location and slightly modified original home where The Tasmanian beer atom was split! Yahoo Serious was so patriotic and passionate about our country and in his own way, put us on the world stage with this 1988 film. The whole journey has given me even greater understand to who Yahoo is and the amazing country I live in. If you are an Aussie and you haven’t seen this incredibly artistic film, hand your passports in right this minute☺️. Yahoo is a hard man to find these days but he is a special piece of Australian pop culture and I am hoping this cosplay journey will garner some attention to bring him out of hiding . This is a huge tick on my bucket list and I can’t wait to complete this cosplay look! Thank you so so much to Millie and the owners of the now converted Granny flat, for allowing me to have this moment - it meant the world! Yahoo please come back ❤️- NOW - let me hear some of that Rock n Roll music! #yahooserious #youngeinstein #huntervalley #nsw #popculture #sydney #wollombi #cessnock #millfield #cosplay #australia #australian #80s #cosplayer #cosplaying #genderbent #genderbentcosplay #cosplaygirl #mentalasanything #popculture #australianmade #aussie #australianfilm #whysoserious #haha (at Wollombi, New South Wales)

Thank you so much to Millie and the owners of the now converted Granny flat, for allowing me to have this moment - it meant the world! Yahoo please come back ❤️- NOW - let me hear some of that Rock n Roll music! #yahooserious #youngeinstein #huntervalley #nsw #popculture #sydney #wollombi #cessnock #millfield #cosplay #australia #australian #80s #cosplayer #cosplaying #genderbent #genderbentcosplay #cosplaygirl #mentalasanything #popculture #australianmade #aussie #australianfilm #whysoserious #haha (at Wollombi, New South Wales)
