“Come on, Atkins! You can hit better than that!” Coach Wlodimierz barked. 

“He’s distracted…” Bryce teased from the pitcher’s plate. “Y/N is doing her stretches isn’t she, Dempsey?”

Zach scowled through his face mask. “Shut up, Bryce.”

Jeff batted up for the next pitch. He tried to focus on the ball, but he could hear you counting off the cheer steps. 

“You do know I asked her to the Spring Fling. She said yes,” Zach muttered to Jeff. Jeff huffed and gripped his bat. “Yeah, she said she couldn’t wait, and that she was waiting for me to ask her-”

Jeff struck the ball out of the field. Coach Wlodimierz whistled at the distance. “That’s what I’m talking about Atkins! Keep that fire!”

“Oh, my God!”

“Are you okay?”

“Guys, let her breathe!” 

The baseball field looked over at the cheer team and saw that someone had fallen off the pyramid. 

“Hey, it’s Y/N,” Scott shouted. Quickly, Zach and Jeff dropped their equipment and ran over to the cluster.

You were sitting in the grass, dusting off the debris on your hands when you saw Zach kneel beside you. You smiled up at him, letting him know you were okay. “Just a twist. I’m okay, I’ll still be able to out dance you at the Spring Fling.”

Zach smiled, but Jeff let his head down in defeat.
