A/N Sorry this one’s a bit sad, I was in a sad mood when started to write this :/ It’s actually based on a conversation with me and my friend. That being said, I tried to give it a sweet ending. On the other hand, I finished this quicker than I thought I would…not sure if that’s a good or bad thing

You and Zhou Zhi had been dating for a year now and you had a learned alot in that year. One of the things was that if he didn’t speak at all, something was wrong. But in no way would he tell anyone what was wrong, because he didn’t want anyone to worry.

That’s what his parents expected from him the moment his brother was born. He was supposed to be a perfect image, a role model. And that’s what drove his brother away from him, yet he kept up the façade for his parents. Anything to please them.

But sometimes, it broke him. There were times that he closed himself of from everyone, even you and Siyang. And then a few days later he’d be back to his old self, although you were pretty sure that most of his smiles were forced to pretend he was okay.

Yet this time, he stayed closed off. He didn’t smile, he barely talked and he didn’t even show up for tennis practice anymore. You would only see him during class and after then, he avoided you like the pest. And you were sick of it.

So you grabbed his collar as he tried to leave after the last hour of class, and dragged him out of the classroom. He didn’t even protest at all and just let you drag him until you reached a secluded area. You let go of his collar and turned him around to face you.

His eyes were empty, almost like you were staring into a dead persons eyes, and you felt your heart break. You lifted your hand and placed it on the side of his face, which he leaned into immediatley as on instinct.

“What’s wrong, Zhou Zhi? Talk to me, please.” You pleaded and he looked at you, eyes now full of sadness. He closed his eyes, leaning more into your hand and you decided to just pull him into a hug. His head fell onto your shoulder as his arms loosely draped across your hips while yours wrapped around his neck, softly raking your hand through his hair to calm him down.

That’s when he broke down completely, soft sobs filling the room and your heart just shattered into pieces. You let him cry, continuing to pet his hair so he would calm down. It took a few more minutes for him to calm down, but tears were still dropping down his face. You wiped those away with your hand before placing a kiss on his forehead. He continued to lean into your touch, like a touch starved puppy. Your eyes connected again and you gave a reassuring smile.

“Better?” You asked and he nodded weakly, leaning his forehead against yours after.

“Can you tell me what’s wrong?” You asked and he looked you in the eyes before sighing, realizing that he couldn’t run away anymore.

“Pressure… Parents, teacher… the club.” He confessed and you frowned, making him sigh once again.

“With Siyang injured, I’m there number 1 player. I have to win, if I lose than every one loses confidence and we all lose. Xing Long is already busy enough, Jiale and Dayong are fighting at the moment and Qiao Chen’s ankle is injured again. They can’t lose confidence now.” He explained and you huffed, rolling your eyes.

“Yes, but that responsibility doesn’t fall on you! They’re mistakes or injuries aren’t your fault. None of it is. If they lose confidence because you have one bad match, then they should figure out why they can’t have confidence in themselves.” You said and he looked a bit shocked.

“Now! We’re gonna get ice-cream to make you feel better and then we’re cuddling.” You said, taking his hand in yours before dragging him with you once again.

“Zhou Zhi! Let’s go to practice!” You saw Jiale running at you with a smile. You stopped and turned around to fully face him, Zhou Zhi behind you.

“He’s mine for today, you can have him tomorrow.” You answered before continuing to walk out of school, which made Zhou Zhi chuckle.

You reached your house, ice-cream long gone. You opened the door, greeting your mom (who was clearly more excited to see Zhou Zhi) before you went upstairs to your room. You threw your bag on a chair, Zhou Zhi doing the same before you both laid on your bed. You opened your arms and Zhou Zhi easily got into your embrace, putting his own arms around you as well. He gave you a smile as you pat his head, letting his eyes close as he just enjoyed the moment before he spoke up again.

“Thank you.” He mumbled against your arm and you smiled at him, kissing his forehead again.

“I’m your girlfriend, I love you too much to see you suffer.” You said and he looked up once again, smiling as well. Then he leaned up to kiss you, which you happily reacted to.

“You’re the best.” He said and you chuckled.

“I know, I know. But you’re just as good.” You replied before closing your eyes as you cuddled closer to him, hand still raking through his hair.

“I love you too much.” He mumbled again, but you didn’t bother to reply as you heard slight snores from him. Instead you kissed his forehead once more before letting yourself fall asleep as well.
