Okay, let’s take a moment to talk about the relationship between A’Sun & She’er.

When A’Sun first mentioned ‘a friend who became an enemy’ to Changge and She’er immediately showed up afterwards, we all know it was She’er whom A’Sun talked about. Throughout the drama we can see them bickering constantly, even fighting several times, but they still understand each other very well.

While watching Ep. 25, I was always wondering why A’Sun shot She’er’s leg first, and why he asked She’er “Did you kill her?” although he was grieving & raging, to the point he could no longer think straight. Ayi’er died under She’er’s blade in front of him, other people wouldn’t bother asking such question (Our Changge believed right away that her 2nd uncle killed her mother after finding the dagger she gave him in her mother’s chamber). And She’er didn’t beg for A’Sun’s forgiveness, he opened his mouth only to answer A’Sun’s question, that he didn’t kill Ayi’er. So, I also wondered whether A’Sun would have killed She’er or not if Khatun hadn’t appeared, and exactly where the second arrow was aiming for. Anyway, I took it as they both understand each other very well that A’Sun couldn’t believe She’er would kill his mother, and She’er, of course feeling guilty for Ayi’er’s death that he was ready to accept any consequence.

And then… these 39 & 40 episodes (my edits above), it’s when I realized this ship is not a submarine, it’s the crew’s, or at least the screenplay writers’ BATTLESHIP!!! Don’t those lines and actions normally belongs to the main or at least the second couple in other dramas? Like, when the leading male thinks the leading female is dead, he drinks a lot, maybe crying too, and talking to his mother when she comes to comfort him although she’s the one who ordered her subordinates to eliminate her son’s love? Or when a leading female finds out the love of her life is still alive, she will rush to him, punching his chest, maybe crying “Why did you deceive me? I was so devastated!” blah blah and then they would hug and he comforts her that he will never leave her again, leaving people around them being a bunch of dumb light bulbs LOL

Anyway, A’Sun & She’er eventually get back being friends, brothers… because they understand and care for each other so much. Remember when She’er says “Don’t you slander me and my mother”, then A’Sun replies “Don’t bring yourself into this. Someone like you can’t never have plotted it so cleverly” (Ep.41). Well, A’Sun was being a little sarcastic (as he always does when talking to She’er) but he definitely trusts She’er. When A’Sun says “As long as you’re Yicheng’s son, and I’m Khan’s adopted son, it’s impossible for us to forgive each other”, I was very surprised. At first I thought A’Sun would mention Ayi’er, but he never brings her up again, that’s his forgiveness. If so, even the fact She’er being Yicheng’s son & A’Sun is Great Khan’s adopted son can never stand between them for long. I can imagine the two of them meeting up somewhere in the middle of the immense steppe, drinking under the moon, talking about small things during the day, mentioning Changge and the girl She’er fell in love with, then quarreling before going back to their own places. After all She’er is the only person A’Sun could show his true self to before meeting Changge (You might think there’s Mu Jin but to me he’s not there yet. Mu Jin is part of Eagle Division so sometimes to A’Sun he’s still a subordinate, someone he’s responsible for).

Ha, that was long. I just thought this relationship should be appreciated more, it has a depth that second only to GeSun IMO.
Anyone who makes it till the end, thank you for reading ^ㅁ^v
