I saw someone on Twitter suggest that, in contrast to Leon’s childhood in the countryside, Raihan had a pretty posh upbringing! Since Hammerlocke has such a strong emphasis on history I had the idea that Raihan’s family consists of a long, long line of Dragon trainers that can be traced back hundreds of years… Raihan’s father, Amir, was the Hammerlocke Gym Leader before Raihan himself took over.
Amir is EXTREMELY focused on historical preservation and honoring the past, and he and Raihan butted heads a bit in Raihan’s youth because of their very different outlooks on what role the past should play in the present… however in the present day they get along quite well!

also Raihan calls his dad ‘Baba’ because it’s the cutest thing in the world ;w;
