Vivian’s POV

It takes us a while to drive to Luke’s house. The rain keeps pounding down on the windows, racing each other as we drive down the road. My hand is still engulfed by Luke’s, and I don’t mind at all.

At first it was a little weird, but now it just makes me feel a little better. He hasn’t actually said anything about my confession, but he’s been nice and playful with me. His touch causes a weird feeling to erupt in my stomach, as well as every time he looks at me.

“Here we are.” He chirps.

I look up and see a medium sized baby blue house, that suits Luke perfectly.

I get out of the car, and help Luke grab the bags full of junk food. As the rain hits my face, I feel like it’s washing away my worries and problems, allowing me to be happy for today.

Luke starts to head to the door, ducking his head, to avoid getting his hair wet. He unlocks it, and opens it, then turns around and sees me walking slowly.

“Aren’t you cold?” He says loud enough for me to hear.

I shrug, “It feels good. Refreshing.”

A smile forms on his face, and he turns around for a second, and looks in his house. He then turns back around and still has the smile on his face.

“Let’s put the food inside, then we can stay out for as long as you want. I have a trampoline in the backyard.”

I consider his offer, it did sound like fun. I hadn’t been on a trampoline since I was around ten, and I used to love it.

“Okay.” I agree, and continue walking into the house.

There’s picture frames of three boys all over, with a small dog. I remember the conversation Luke and I had about Molly, and how happy she was home.

Old, but still in good condition, furniture is placed around the house. There’s pictures of huge amounts of people together posing, and there’s pictures of just one person as a baby.

“Let’s put he ice cream in the freezer, but the rest can just stay out.” He says over his shoulder while searching through his bf’s for the ice cream.

“I have it right here.” I comment, holding up the bag.

He turns around and takes it, grinning, “Be right back.” He disappears into the kitchen, and I look around the house some more.

Suddenly I hear quick padding on the ground, and barking. Tiny paws jump up on my legs, causing me to look down and see a small dog.

“You must be Molly.” I smile, and crouch down to pet her. She jumps up and starts to attack my far my licking it.

“Molly, get off her.” Luke’s voice rings, and Molly’s attention is diverted to him. She barks happily, and jumps up on Luke.

He takes her into his arms, allowing her to lick his face, “I know, I missed you too.” He coos, his eyes closing.

I grin at the sight of him with his pet. Luke’s eyes open and go wide when they see me. He immediately sets Molly down, wiping off his face, while his cheeks turn pink.

“You want to go back out now?” He asks, looking utterly embarrassed.

I nod, still smiling. He nods, and leads the way out back. Their backyard is not huge, but a good size. There’s a large trampoline that Luke is already climbing onto. In the corner, there’s a tiny swing set that’s rusted, but I can tell that it’s full of good memories. There’s a small garden next to the fence, but it’s covered with snow.

Goosebumps form on my skin, but I don’t mind the cold.

“You coming?” Luke’s voice calls.

I turn towards him, to see that he’s standing on the trampoline, staring at me.

“Yeah.” I shuffle towards him, and climb up onto the trampoline.

“Careful, it’s slippery.” He reaches his hands out, grab my own hands, helping me stay balanced.

The rain continues to beat down on us, making my hair damp. I don’t mind it at all. I stare up into Luke’s ocean blue eyes, and the same strange feeling returns to my stomach.

I hastily take my hands away from Luke’s, and take a step away from him. I start to jump up and down, a grin immediately forming on my lips.

Luke laughs, and copying my movements. He jumps closer to me, making special movements to make me fly in the air. A shriek leaves my lips, and when I land, I grab onto Luke, burying my face into his chest.

“I’m sorry.” He laughs.

“That was terrifying.” I mumble into his shirt, basking in the smell of his cologne.

I feel his arms wrap around me, pulling me closer to him, “I didn’t think you’d go that high. My brothers used to it to me all the time when I was younger.”

I pull my face out of Luke’s chest, but don’t completely pull away from him. We remain hugging in the rain as if it’s the most normal thing in the whole world.

“What are your brothers like?” I glance up at him and see him smiling.

“They’re great. Yeah they pick on me, but in the end were like three best friends, Jack’s girlfriend Celeste is amazing too, she’s like a sister to me.” He speaks fondly of his siblings, making me smile.

“They sound amazing.”

He hums, “They are amazing, you should meet them sometime.”

I pull away from Luke now, blushing. I nod in reply, and start to bounce again. Copying what Luke did to me, I try to make him bounce high like I did, but it doesn’t work.

“How did you do it?” I huff in frustration as I try for the third time.

Luke’s laughter causes me to blush. He bounces over to me, and leans down to whisper in my ear.

“If I told you I’d have to kill you.”

I roll my eyes and push Luke’s chest away, swallowing down the weird feelings that rise up when his lips brush my ear.

We continue jumping in the rain for a while. Molly’s on the ground running around the trampoline, yapping loudly. My legs become tired, so I sit down, then lay on my back. The rain falls down and falls all over my body.

I feel Luke either sit down or lay down next to me. I feel his fingers run across my forehead, probably to move some hairs that have gone crazy. I keep my eyes closed as he does that, the feeling somehow calms me. I feel Luke’s cold hand slowly intertwining with mind. A small smile forms on my lips, and at this moment, all of my problems are washed away.

I don’t know how long we sit there holding hands in the rain, but it feels like at eternity. I almost fall asleep, but Luke speaks up before I can.

“We should head inside, or we’ll get hypothermia.”

My eyes flutter open, and I sit up so the rain doesn’t fall into them, “Okay.” I sigh, but make no movement to get up.

Luke sits up, and stares at me. It isn’t creepy, he looks as if he wants to say something important, but is holding himself back. I can see him glance down at my lips every once in a while, and my heart flutters at the thought of us kissing again.

“What?” I question lightly.

Luke blushes, and points to my face, “Your lips are turning blue.”

“Well your hair is ruined.” I retort, sticking my tongue out at him playfully. His hair really was ruined, his perfect quiff was drenched, and is now small curls falling onto his forehead.

“No, your lips are seriously blue, you could be getting hypothermia, we need to get inside.” There’s worry clear on his face, which makes my heart beat faster.

“Okay.” Is all I can reply.

“Come on.” He grabs my hand, pulling me towards the edge of the trampoline.

Luke hops off, then tries to pull me off, but I end up falling on him instead.

“Whoops, sorry.” He wraps his arm around my waist to steady me.

We walk to the house, and I catch a reflection of myself, and immediately feel embarrassed. in completely drenched and my hair is all over. My make up has all washed off, leaving dark bags around my tired eyes. The red mark on my cheek as faded slightly, but is still clearly visible.

Luke opens the door, and pulls me inside quickly. He hurries over and grabs some towels out of a cabinet. When he wraps one around my shoulders, I can’t help but blush.

“I know the perfect way to warm up your lips.” I see him starting at them, and I can’t help but look at his too.

“How?” I whisper walking closer to him without realizing it.

Luke looks up at me, and blinks rapidly, shaking his head, “A warm shower. That’ll warm your whole body up.”

I find myself feeling disappointed, but I don’t know why.

Did I want Luke to kiss me?

No, I didn’t, because I don’t feel like that towards him. He’s just a really nice guy, with gorgeous blue eyes, and a lip ring that drives me insane. Sure we hold hands, and I’ve kissed him, but we’re just friends, that’s all.

Then why do you want to kiss him again?

My thoughts argue with me, but I push them to the back of my head.

“Come on you can shower first and I’ll clean up this mess.” He grins and points towards the puddles of water we left by the back door. Molly’s with us everywhere we go, even her fur is drenched making her look freezing.

I let Luke guide me to a bathroom, “I’ll be right back.”

He dashes down the hall hastily, leaving me to stare at my reflection again. I truly look like a mess, no wonder Luke doesn’t want to kiss me.

I notice that my lips are in fact a little blue. I don’t care though, being out there was so relaxing.

“Here’s some dry clothes, if you just set your wet ones outside the door I can throw them into the drier. There’s more towels in this cupboard.” He opens a tall door, and there are more towels.

“Okay.” I turn around and stare up at Luke again.

His eyes fall to my lips, but he shakes his head again, “I’ll be cleaning up.”

With that he turns around, and leaves me with a small frown on my face. I try to forget about the disappointment, and focus on showering. Once I’ve taken off all of my wet clothes, I set them outside the door, just like Luke said to do.

I climb into the shower, and turn on the warm water. It beats down on my shoulders, warming me up instantly. I let my hair get hit with the warm stream, and allowing it to fall on my face.

I find Luke’s shampoo, and rub a small amount into my hair to clean it. The smell of it is captivating, and the only thing I can think of is Luke running his hands through his wet hair and he used it. I have to stop myself from thinking about him when I smell what kind of body wash he uses. I quickly lather myself with it, then rinse everything off, and step out of the shower. I wrap a towel around me and quickly dry off, and try to dry my hair as much as possible.

I pick up the shirt Luke gave me, and see the name of a band I don’t know. I’d stopped listening to music a while back, so I didn’t recognize the band.

I pull on the shirt, and it’s huge on me. I was already wearing Julian’s clothes, because I stayed in his room last night to avoid being cornered by my father. Luke’s shirt was even larger than Julian’s, which is shocking considering that he’s nearly two years younger than Julian.

I put on Luke’s pajama pants, having to roll them up like I did with Julian’s sweats, so they fit. I comb my fingers through my hair so it doesn’t look completely crazy, then open the door and make my way back to the kitchen.

“Your clothes should be dry,” Luke turns around and stops mid sentence when he sees me, his eyes going wide and his lips parting “soon.”

I nod, and look away from him, feeling embarrassed. He probably thinks I look like a mess.

“Well I’m going to go shower now, make yourself at home, you can watch TV, pick a movie, whatever, I don’t care.” He smiles at me before disappearing down the same hallway he went down earlier.

I assume that his bedroom is down there, but I could be wrong. I walk around the house, looking at all of the pictures. There’s tons of Luke with two boys, when they were younger. Some pictures look more recent, and Luke’s mother is in them. Some pictures are of a blonde man with the four kids and Luke’s mom, but it looks like it was taken a long time ago.

I remember how Luke told me about his parents divorcing when he was young. He was so calm about it, which shocked me. I wish that my parents would get a divorce so I never have to see my father. My mother doesn’t have the guts to leave him though.

Molly runs towards me to barking loudly. I smile, and lean down to pet her. She’s still dripping with water, I grab a towel from the table and rub her fur to dry her off. She licks my face as I do so, making me laugh.

Once she’s dry enough I scratch behind her ears, and she seem to like it.

“There’s treats for her in the jar on the counter if you’d like to give her some.” Luke’s voice makes me jump.

I look up and see him drying his hair with a towel, dressed in clothes similar to mine, but he looks so much better in them.

I stand up and see the jar full of weird looking treats. Molly barks as she watches me grab a treat for her. I hold it out and let her eat it off of my hand.

“She really loves those.” Luke smiles. I nod, and lean down pet her again.

“So,” Luke claps his hands together getting my attention, “I was thinking that we’d just pig out, and maybe watch a movie until my mum gets home?”

My eyes go wide, because I completely forgot about his mother actually living here, as crazy as that sounds, “What are we going to do when she gets home?”

“Don’t worry about it, she’ll understand, and I’m sure that she’ll be fine with you staying here for a couple of days, if you’re okay with that of course.” He explains, and his cheeks turn a little red.

I nod, “Yeah, I’m okay with that, I just hope that your mom will be.”

“She will, she’s pretty chill,” His smile returns, and he scoops Molly up, “So what movie do you want to watch?”  

“I don’t care, you choose.” I follow him to all of our food, instantly opening the m&m’s and popping a few into my mouth.

“Nope, you’re the guest, you choose. Lets take all fo this to the living room.” He grabs two bags, and I grab the other, following him into a room with a long couch, a love seat, a flat screen TV, and a coffee table in the middle of the room.

“The movies are in the stand under the TV.” He grins, taking the bag from me, and giving me a little shove towards the TV.

I groan, but know that Luke will be stubborn and make me pick a movie. I look through all of them, and grab Mulan the moment I see it.

“Is this okay?” I hold it up for him to see, and a huge grin forms on his lips.

“Perfect.” He then hurries away, making me furrow my eyebrows.

I put in the movie, and turn on the TV, then grab one of his cookies and quickly pop it into my mouth.

“I saw that.” Luke’s voice is right behind my ear, making me jump and start to choke on the cookie. I turn around and smack him in the chest, while coughing.

He opens up my coke, and has me take a drink of it, and I stop coughing.

“You alright?” I notice that he has a big blanket wraped around his shoulders.

“Yes, you big jerk.” I turn away from him pretending to be mad at him.

“Come on I was just messing around.” He pushes my shoulder playfully.

I continue to ignore him, and eat another one of his cookies. I feel warm arms wrap around my waist, causing butterflies to form in my stomach.

“Please don’t be mad at me.” Luke whispers in my ear, causing a chill to run up my back.

“I’m not.” I whisper back.

I can feel his stubble on my neck and cheek as he talks, “Good.”

I shiver when his breath hits my neck.

“You cold?” He says in his normal voice this time.

I turn around and nod, staring up at his ocean blue eyes.

“C’mere, we can share the blanket.” He sits down on the couch, patting the spot next to him. I sit next to him, and he wraps the blanket around both of our shoulders, making me instantly warmer. Luke wraps his arm around my waist, and pulls me closer to him.

“So we’re warmer.” He explains when I look at him.

I have to look away so he doesn’t see me blush. I reach out and grab the bag of m&m’s then lean back into Luke. I throw some into my mouth and focus on the movie. My thoughts won’t stop running though, making it difficult to actually watch. All I can think about is how I’m dreading seeing anyone tomorrow. My mother, my father, my so called friends, even Julian. I just want to stay in my little bubble with Luke for as long as I can.

“Hey, what’s wrong?” Luke whispers, pausing the movie, and and taking one of my m&m’s

I look up at him, “I don’t want to go to school tomorrow.”

“Then lets not,” He says without missing a beat, “It’s Friday anyway.”

“Really?” I stare up at him with my wide eyes filled with hope.

“Yeah! I’m sure my mum won’t care, we can just hang out all weekend.” He grabs my hand, grinning at me.

“Okay.” I smile up at him.

“Now give me a kiss then we can watch the movie.” He grins at me.

My eyes widen, and I pull away from him, “W-what?”

“A kiss?” Then his eyes widen in realization, “I meant the chocolate!”

I blink rapidly, “Oh!” I hastily grab the bag of kisses, and hand them to him. Both of us are blushing madly, and I can guarantee that we’re both feeling extremely awkward.

Luke bursts out in laughter, and after a minute, I join him. He pulls me into his chest as we laugh. I listen to his heart beating, and it calms me a little. He presses play on the movie, and we go back to normal.

“I could get used to this.” Luke whispers after a while during of watching the movie.

I find myself replying without thinking about it, “Me too.”

Just so you guys know, this isn’t going to be ending any time soon. I’m planning on it having over 25 chapters, so get comfy for the roller coaster that is Vivian’s life. I’ve got a ton planned for this, and I am so excited for it.

If you guys have read my Michael fanfic, Forgotten Memories, I could really use some ideas for the middle of the book. I have the end all planned out, but I have no idea how to actually get there. Comment some ideas for me!
