It’s here!! The FINAL round of the Saturday AM magazine “March Art Madness” contest!!
After 5 whole weeks of fighting to keep our places in the competition, it’s all come down to a four-way head-to-head – so here’re a few close ups of what I drew for our toughest challenge yet!
Each and every one of us who are still standing worked super, SUPER hard to turn out some properly knockout pieces for the final, so if you do take a gander at the gallery – (which I hope ya do! Y’all’s votes have had SUCH a massive impact all throughout the contest so far) – please make sure to take everybody’s work into proper consideration rather than just chucking a vote my way without actually looking around
No matter who takes the crown in the end though, I’m super proud just to have made it this far, and super proud of the artworks I managed to crank out within the tight timeframes that made this contest so challenging! (This was probably the most character-packed piece I’ve worked on in nearly a year, and I somehow managed to crank it out in ~3 days! I am gonna sleep SO well tonight lmao )

Every single round of the Saturday AM magazine “March Art Madness” contest has been nerve-wracking, but last week’s most of all. Somehow though, I’ve made it through to the final round!! Thanks so, SO much to everybody who voted for my artwork – I truly couldn’t have imagined that kind of turnout
Being able to compete in this contest has honestly felt like taking part in a shonen manga tournament arc– it’s really gotten my adrenalin pumping each week. I wasn’t betting on making it through any round up ‘til now though; and definitely not on making it all the way to the finals! This week’s four-way fight to the finish is definitely gonna be the biggest challenge yet, but I can’t wait to see what everybody brings to the table!

Back at it with another fun lil’ character redesign sesh – but this time around I wanted to focus more on the actual design process itself!
I often get a lot of questions about the tools and shortcuts I tend to use, so hopefully seeing how I put together my character design canvases might provide some helpful answers! (^^)/
And I managed to land FIRST PLACE in @Saturday_am ‘s #MarchArtMadness contest!!!?!! I still can’t believe it omg
I know I’ve been saying it the whole way through the contest, but thanks so, SO much to everyone who voted; whether for me or for the other artists! I had a big old cry when I saw the results – I’ve entered a good handful of art contests like this before, but in nearly a decade I’ve never managed to make it to first place before. It truly means more than I can say, on so many fronts, to see all the hard work I put in coming through in such a huge way this time around
Major thanks as well to all the organisers on the Saturday AM team, and to the 63 other artists who competed in this year’s contest for pulling out ALL the stops right from day 1!! Each and every round was a truly tough challenge and I still feel so dang proud to have been able to compete alongside so many insanely talented and incredibly sportsmanly artists from all over the world
This project, commissioned by CELSYS, the company behind the painting application Clip Studio Paint, consisted of an illustration and an accompanying video.
I was asked to paint an illustration later to be used for promotional materials and review the Clip Studio Paint EX application in terms of using it to paint one of my scenery illustrations.
I was inspired by a photo of a weird tiger statue that I found on one of my walks around Tokyo already a few years ago. I wanted to create a place where such a statue would not look out of place, so I decided to re-image the entrance to Tokyo’s Tora No Mon (Tiger’s Gate) district. I used some reference materials to get the architectural details right, but overall, what you see in the piece is a completely made-up place.
Heartless Headcanon but just one again! Someone keeps washing Creed’s coats with Lorelei’s uniforms, which leads to Alastor having to hand-pick tiny rhinestones off his coat.
Creed loves bread. Fancy people bread. There’s a bakery near The Jury HQ that he’s known to frequent. Lance got him an All You Can Eat Baguettes and Other Breads gift card for that bakery once. Creed increased his salary by 10 times.
I wore the coat outside among the general public today for the first time. I got a total of 4 compliments on the coat alone, and even got to tell someone in my shit hole town about Heartless at the craft store. So overall? A win.
