Exploring with textures. …and oh, veryyy faint #eyepple here… Seeing Matsumoto Shunsuke’s Tateru Zou in my middle school art textbook was one of the unforgettable experiences from my school days. Since then I always wanted to create a piece about a standing figure as a symbol of survival and hope.

The first experiment with multiple layers of tracing paper and varnish, done a few years back at IMC. I call it So Much Depends Upon because this piece taught me that so much depends upon subtle expressions in simple lines. (Thank you Rebecca Leveille for the guidance) …and of course, I do love the poetry by William Carlos Williams, The Red Wheelbarrow
