I don’t think people who weren’t in ace community spaces pre-2016 really have any idea how much asexual communities and cultures have been destroyed by “ace discourse.”

Like, if you know, you know, but if you don’t know, I don’t know if I can fully explain to you just how much we lost because hating asexuals was so normalized it’s basically a fucking meme.

As I look through old posts and blogs and forums and conversations, I’ve been seeing this more and more– and that’s with the knowledge that what I’m seeing is only snippets and can only ever be snippets. So many people deactivated and deleted and erased themselves thanks to the 2016-era ace discourse, so it’s even harder to gather that history. But it’s there, and it was there, and it’s so odd to know that there were people who came before who lived through that– not tangentially, as I did at the time, but in it, affected by it in so many ways.

Also when you look at the origins of it all. And keep seeing proof piling up that the majority of it exclus arguments is just  recycled swerfism, sometimes not even repackaged, it gets harder to take other subsets of exclus arguments seriously. Even ones that are getting extremely trendy on here at the moment. To the point you can get mass deplatformed or smear campaigned for questioning the increasingly trendy exclus opinions even a little bit. I can understand why both o f you have your reasons for being so disillusioned by exclus rhetoric.

Cuz the more I do digging on he history o this discourse the more I understand why so many popular in f luential ace inclus  blogs on this site just aren’t tolerating the rise of exclus or exclus neutral blogs. Despite the growing pressure there is to do that.
