“Almost all of the catwalks are inspired by street style”, runway shows are more inspired now by what’s happening on the street rather than trying to be seen as conceptual. Top fashion luxury brands like: Gucci, Balenciaga, Alexander Wang, Vetements, Off-White, A-Cold- Wall*, Y-3 Yohji etc., are definitely taking inspiration from street style and its relevance at the moment.
Even something as simple as a pair of Levi’s, created for strength to work in, have been elevated by the fashion industry. Partnering with disruptive French brand Vetements, a pair of twisted Levi’s were sold for just under £2,000. While RE/Done, takes vintage Levi’s, recuts them so that they have a much more modern – and quite frankly, great fit – then flogs them for about $300.
