Book Review 101 - The Order of the Scales
16.5/20
The Order of the Scales by Stephen Deas is the third book in his Dragon trilogy where dragons are kept drugged by their riders and used in transport and warfare. The war has finally arrived and prince Jehal must win this war if he is to survive. But a bigger problem presents itself when the ingredients needed in the potion that keeps the dragons sedated and controlled begin drying up and with the dragons free humans will have to fight for their own survival. Meanwhile Snow, the white dragon is raising an army of freed dragons to avenge her kinds enslavement and soon the world of the humans will know her wrath and fury.
This was a fun and action packed final installment to this trilogy. The characters have really come a long way, especially Snow and Jehal and their stories had the satisfying conclusion that I desired and hoped that they would have. I really enjoyed seeing this world from both the human and dragon perspectives and it gave the trilogy a greater depth and weight than it would have if the human perspective was the only point of view that was explored and focused on.
you should check out the Silver Kings trilogy along with the Black Mausoleum, which all together follow the Memory of Flames trilogy.
For some reason the recommended order is Black Mausoleum, then Dragon Queen, Splintered Gods, Silver Kings, but that feels weird. Black Mausoleum imo is better read in between Splintered Gods and Silver Kings.
if you think the characters have come a long way, WOO BOY do you have a lot in store if you keep reading
