Amanda Nunes mentioned feeling ill yesterday around the weigh-ins, and after trying to tough it out, she went to the hospital at 9:30am this morning with an undisclosed illness. It has been made official that Nunes vs. Shevchenko has been scratched from the UFC 213 main-event.
Following this breaking news, Joanna Jedrzejczyk offered to step in on just hours notice to fight Shevchenko and “save” the main-event. Though it’s likely this won’t happen due to weight, as well as medical clearance, the MMA world has taken further note at how much of a true competitor, athlete, and champion she is.
