And, as is the tradition with this tumblr, a foolish picture (or item) has to appear on the blog as the joke for the holiday. April Fools also falls on “Fakie Friday”, so we know what needs to be here! In this case, it’s a rather old photo of……..whatever this is. “The Shaggy Beast”, perhaps?
The layers of fakery here are ongoing: First off, that head is ‘inspired’ by the Japanese “version” of ponies, the Takara Ponies. That company made them more like Hello Kitty than ponies, giving them hands, making them stand on 2 legs, and changing the face to the traffic-cone like design you see here. So, the 2nd faking is taking the ‘biped’s head’ and then putting it back on a 4 legged body to presumably make it more pony like again. But last…wow, what’s even going on with that hula hair? It’s like a kooky grass skirt of blue nonsense? What is it supposed to represent? There is no such thing as an afghan horse (afghan hound with hair all around, yes, but horse no) and it clearly already has a normal mane. It looks like someone said ‘more hair = always better’ and then let this thing rip.
(What’s also curious about it is how exactly did they do the hair rooted into the body like that—if you know about hairing machines/how they fit into doll & pony heads alike, it makes less sense the more you look at it)
Someone however seems to appreciate this, because they’ve given her a little ribbon. (It’s unknown who did the photo, what this is called, where it came from, or why it exists)
