This is a very speed doodle of one of my favorite characters in FMA - Envy. He’s a little bit different than in original version, but I decided to change his messy hair for some fanfiction and yeah, I think it looks very well.

A female character who is a cold, relentless leader, always pragmatic, and able to make whatever hard decisions need to be made in order to ensure success and survival, tremendously skilled and devastatingly efficient at her job, tragically terrible at being overtly nice to people, who is alsonot evil and is stillfundamentally a good person.

The Moral of This Post is: No matter how genius  your idea is, Hiromu Arakawa probably already did it, and she did it better than you could ever hope to.

Having said that, I think this is definitely an underrated conversation between Roy and Ed. Remember, this scene happens right after Riza tells Ed that once Amestris becomes a democracy (which is what Roy is aiming to do), she and Roy become war criminals, which might lead to their execution. Well, before the frames in these photos, Ed tells Roy that he will pay the 520 cenz back once Roy becomes the president, meaning, he’s telling him he trusts Roy to succeed in his mission and supports him (despite their… well, occasional arguments). But Ed doesn’t stop at the president part. He’s also saying he is expecting Roy to make Amestris a democracy, despite what Riza just told him about their possible fate. If he had stopped this conversation at that point, though, he would have basically said he’s OK with Roy and Riza’s death. BUT HE DIDN’T. He continues: “I’ll make you promise something else”. He is going to make Roy promise to stay alive even after that. And Roy gets this, because he answers: “In other words, you are not letting me off the hook for a very long time.” Oh boy, I love Ed so much, I love Roy too, and I freaking love Arakawa for telling this thing in such a subtle way (that I hadn’t even realized before).

Also, as if Ed wasn’t already awesome enough, he has to add that line about the Lieutenant :’) The boy cares so much!!! (Let’s not even get to that scene where he says he wants to see everyone smiling because I’m not OK)

TL;DR: I frigging love Ed, and Arakawa is a genius.

Edit: apparently I read ‘cool’ instead of ‘coat’ (probably just me projecting + bad eyesight :p)
