#arepas con queso
Inspired by Encanto, I decided to try and make arepas con queso. Now I’m a horrible cook, but I figured that since most of the recipes only have like 5 ingredients, and Encanto kinda implies that Julieta has been making them daily since she was 5yo, that there was no way that even Icould mess it up. I even spent an hour going to 6 different stores to find the masarepa to make sure I could do it, and then followed the most simple recipe I could exactly.
I was wrong.
I don’t know how to describe them other than that they certainly have A Texture™️ and it is none of the textures supposed to be included in an arepa. They taste great, but they don’t look anything like how they’re supposed to, and I don’t know what that texture was. Even the cheese center was somehow neither the texture of normal or melted cheese.
I don’t know what I did wrong…
The second time I made them I accidentally doubled the salt, so they didn’t taste right but also weren’t horribleand I at least got the texture right.I’ve got the recipe figured out nowthough! I don’t know what on earth I did wrong that first time. The recipe is literally on the bag of the specific flour you need to use, and I somehow messed it up twice. Also: if you’re stuffing them with cheese, mozzarella is WAY better than cheddar!
