Peavy strikes out 8, Pence drives in two as Giants sweep D-backs: Recap

Josh Collmenter and Ryan Vogelsong each turned in scoreless performances before San Francisco broke through against the Arizona bullpen in the seventh, with Hunter Pence scoring the go-ahead run. The Giants remained 2 ½ games back in the NL West chase.

Almost exactly one year after Yusmeiro Petit nearly threw a perfect game vs. the D-backs, he dominated them again, allowing four hits in an 84-pitch complete game. The victory cut the Giants’ division deficit to 2 ½ games and upped their Wild Card lead to four games.
