On this day May 15, 1942, The Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) Act was passed. During World War II, over 150,000 served, with jobs ranging from telephone, radio, and teletype operator to cryptographer, medical technician, sheet metal worker, and aircraft mechanic.
