This will likely never be actually finished, but once upon a time I started writing an Arthur but a woman story, mostly based around the trauma of being a woman in a hideously experimental world where anyone can do anything. This is now years old and likely never going to be finished so I figured I’d post what exists. Didn’t edit, didn’t anything, forgive like, 2012 Betsy for mess ups and I might come back and fix some of them. I don’t think I was particularly explicit on the violence of any sort but wanted to warn regardless for the implications.
Arthur works as a bartender in a club. He loves his work, not so much the fact that some customers try to flirt with him. Especially when it´s someone with zero taste in fashion.

Most nights Arthur pretends to be asleep in the hopes that Eames will say that he loves Arthur too. (I kind of picture that at one point Arthur told Eames he loved him and Eames was a bit surprised and awkward and said something really awful like ‘Er, thank you’)
I didn’t fill the whole prompt, but the gist of the relevant part was: Arthur has been rejecting Eames because Arthur only tops, and thinks Eames will not want to bottom. Eames has not, before, but is intrigued. Very intrigued.
It’s porn, folks. Arthur is toppy, Eames is needy, they have a good time.
Can I be honest, there are so many e/i cartoons around the world that are marketed to preschoolers but appeals to an adult audience, that I kind of had the idea of getting them together for a party video game similar to mario party, and they’d include:

I don’t know how it would work, but I just seen these kind of shows so much in recent years, that it just gives me the thought of it
writing meta on bbc merlin’s arthur pendragon makes me go crazy because like. if you look at a bullet point list of his actions yeah he’s obviously the most evil son of a bitch around, second only to uther.
but then it’s like. what he says, what he does, what the narrative says he is, and what everything around him says about him conflict sometimes — all of them at once. he’ll stand up to his father in the name of his people he’ll throw his people under the bus for his father’s approval he kills the druids he spares the druids, he’s an absolute Mess in what reads as an unintentional way.
if he is written doing something out of character or in conflict with everything we know about him, do we pin that on him or the writers room? how much of arthur’s evil actions speak less on him and more on a writing team that resets their characters every episode? where do we draw that line?
i find plain “arthur is just evil” hot takes kind of dull sometimes because it feels like a surface level reading (no offense intended to those who follow that interpretation) of a character who is, almost in spite of the writing of the show, trying to have depth. like arthur is definitely an antagonist i won’t disagree on that point but i feel like there’s more to the story than just that. he’s an agent of plot convenience not a character he’s a caricature he’s not allowed to grow from being an asshole but god there are Hints there are Attempts at growth and they always get reset between episodes but god. god it compels me
