This is fourth post as an artist activist, this image represents the wild spaces of Dartmoor National Park where I live and the environment I want to be here in 10 years time. I would like to see this biodiverse, oxygen producing carbon sink healthy and strong in a decade, as that is all the time we have left if not less! All the trees and animals in this image will be extinct in a generation if we continue down the same path we are on now. They simply couldn’t survive a rise of temperature and the extreme, hostile conditions it would bring. This is the path to two degrees plus, which we are still firmly on after this year’s #COP26 fail.
To save ourselves, our children and the majority of life on earth please don’t turn away, shrug your shoulders and say ‘what can I do?’
What you can do
If you are privileged enough to own your home, invest in a heat pump and solar panels
If you are privileged enough to own a car, buy electric if you can afford it, get together with the people on your street and get an electric car charger to share.
Take public transport when you can and do not fly unless necessary
Reuse and recycle where you can
Apply political pressure to make the necessary changes to our society, which means support and vote for the Green Party…. and before we hear the tired dialogue of ‘but what about the economy?’ …. if there is no life there is no economy or society, at all!
This is our last chance #artistsforagreenfuture #cop26 #cop26failure #artistsforaction #nomeart

As an artist I would like to raise awareness about the current and worsening climate crisis. So I am going to regularly post an animal, tree or environment I would like to see survive into the future but if we don’t change our ways will not make it for my child to enjoy in her adulthood. Today I choose a controversial animal, Wolves in the context of rewilding. There is a lot of controversy when reintroducing predators into our wild spaces. There are many arguments for and against and each has merit. However I am pro rewilding amd believe to have a balanced, healthy and bio diverse environment which will support the fight against the worse effects of the climate crisis and our basic ability to grow food. It has been proven that factory mono culture farming is killing our soils, polluting our ground water and creating environments devoid of life, wild or domestic. There are a few things folk can do to help

Support politicians and political parties who have robust rewilding policies in their manifestos (at the moment in the UK this is the Green Party)
Lobby your mp to fund rewilding projects on farmland and subsidise farmers dedicating land to rewilding parts of their land.
Support local farmers and small holders who are already applying methods of farming which encourages biodiversity.
Plant a fruit tree on your street or in your front garden or verge so the wildlife as well as the community around you can benefit. (if you don’t have a garden then ‘phantom plant’ a tree somewhere in your community)
Rewild a part of your garden if you are privileged enough to have one.
Support your local wildlife trust or wildlife rescue centre.

Just some things we can do so that we can all live in a thriving, diverse beautiful planet. Please don’t stop trying even if those with all the power and wealth won’t bother. #artistsforagreenfuture #cop26 #nomeart

As an artist I would like to raise awareness about the current and worsening climate crisis. So I am going to regularly post an animal, tree or environment I would like to see survive into the future but if we don’t change our ways will not make it for my child to enjoy in her adulthood. Today I choose Hedgehog as an animal I wish to see in ten years time bimbling through my garden eating snails and slugs. Hedgehog numbers having been falling drastically over the last few decades due to habitat loss and poisoning from pesticide products like slug pellets. Below are some of the things you can do to support Hegehogs in your garden if you are privileged enough to have an outside space.

Leave a hole at the base of your garden fence
Have water stations in your garden
leave wild spaces in your garden
Invest in a hedgehog house or create your own Hedgie hibernation space
leave out special hedgehog food

If you don’t have an outside space you can
Donate to a wildlife rescue organisation
Volunteer or donate blankets, food etc to your local rescue centre
Support your local wildlife trust

Just some things we can do so that we can all live in a thriving, diverse beautiful planet. Please don’t stop trying even if those with all the power and wealth won’t bother. #artistsforagreenfuture #hedgehogs #endangeredspecies #cop26 #art #nomeart

I would like to raise awareness as an artist about the current and worsening climate crisis. So I am going to regularly post an animal, tree or environment I would like to see survive into the future but if we don’t change our ways will not make it for my child to enjoy in her adulthood. I am starting with Nanuk who I would like to see still on this planet in ten years time. Let’s change now, there are so many things we can do.
Shop local
support local farmers with good eco practices
plant a tree
grow veg
support your local wildlife trust
take a walk in nature
Vote green in elections
sign petitiions and write to your mp
If you are privileged enough to own your own home buy that heat pump, insulate and invest in solar panels
If you can afford a new car or live in a city buy electric or use public transport.
Just some things you can do so that we can all live in a thriving, diverse beautiful planet. Please don’t stop trying even if those with all the power and wealth won’t bother. #artistsforagreenfuture #saveourplanet #nanuk #polarbears #endangeredspecies #art #nomeart
