Last year, I wrote an article on the realities of navigating the vintage community as a black woman for @thevintagewomanmagazine . I think a lot of the things I discuss are very relevant to what is going on right now. I’ve had the honor of working on a little project with these lovely and diverse group of girls. We wanted to create and image that stands for unity between women of color in the pinup community … so often we are underrepresented, silenced and alienated so we wanted to create something for ourselves together. Today it feels like this message has an added layer of importance with the events that transpired yesterday in regards to George Floyd. The black community cannot undo systematic racism alone we need our allies to stand up and speak up with us.
