I thought flower knight au Val had a look with similar notes to the Nature Godlikes in Pillars of Eternity and I realized Val might make for a pretty fun basis for playing the player character, so naturally I had to make a custom portrait for him! (ignore the stats in the screen shot. I was just testing to make sure things loaded okay and that I liked how it looked!)

I’ll probably see if I can work how to replicate the look for the PoE2 portraits at some point because Val is pretty flirty and I cannot wait to see what a mess I can make flirting with everyone in PoE2!

Been thinking about my flower fae/Red Rider AU for my oc Val and did some doodles with a bit of quick color on the one where he’s coughing up flowers ala hanahaki!

I don’t think this is a true hanahaki situation, though! There are a couple of fairy takes involving people getting cursed or “blessed” to have strange things like frogs or gold come out of their mouths when they speak and I have a feeling this is more along those lines. Though I am also weighing the idea of it being like….an inverse hanahaki in which every time Val starts to fall in love with anyone but his Fae queen, flowers bloom in his chest and choke every word until he backs off and returns his affections to their “proper” place. Since Val is a huge flirt in like 99% of the AUs he’s in, I imagine this would happen a lot!

It’s time for self-indulgent AUs of my own OCs! This time taking an OC without a real project and plonking him into a universe I’m currently working on a lot. So this is Val in the same universe as Vera from my comic Fieldwork. 

Val would make an excellent Red Rider up until the point that he gets mortally wounded in combat and hears a voice - surely just a dying hallucination - that promises he can still live and love and fight, if he will just let it help him. And desperate to finish off the monster, he says yes. 

It’s been hundreds years since Val’s last mission, since the last time the Riders saw him, but sometimes there are reports here and there of a strange inhuman knight who appears to rescue people. Or lure them away. 

As for Val, a lot of the time he’s not really aware of how much time has passed, or how long he’s been the sort of thing he used to hunt, or what exactly he does when he’s let out of Faerie for a time. It’s all a hazy summer daydream. It’s probably for the best that way. 

More of my ridiculous space AU for my ridiculous ocs. 

The green fellow is Val. There once was a Val who worked for Chaos and turned out to have a high aptitude for piloting their weird mind-link spaceships so they cloned him and tweaked the clones genetically and mentally to make them perfect pilots: just decant and shove into a ship! The good guys meet at least two different versions of him. This one here has spent enough time outside of his ship to develop desires outside of what Chaos wants and more of a concept of self and individuality…. just in time to stumble into a whole room of his fellow clones!

The pale one with mothbrows is O’zwyn, a recently defrosted member of a race that was believed to have died out aaaages ago and may have knowledge that would be handy for taking down Chaos. Also has tactile-based psychic powers that allow them to see the past of anything they touch. Obviously putting them on the same space station has a man with a past he really needs to keep secret (and may wish he could lose…..)  is gonna go real well!
