OMG, A BJD I’ve been looking for since 2005, without result, is now for sale.
And of course… I’m low on funds. The dollfie-fates are cruel indeed. Darn you, Kanon! *shakes fist*
Never mind my self-pitying, I got him! On layaway, but I got him! Lucky number 13 years of waiting XD.

I don’t even own any BJD but..
Looking at it from the outside, it really seems like the anti-recast community is completely out of touch with what it’s like to be in poverty and what exactly that means. Do you know how long it would take for someone living on SSI to save up for a legit, let alone justify that price to themselves? Some people just want some beauty and happiness in their lives, that they otherwise would not be able to get. Most of the people buying recasts aren’t taking money from the original artists – because they never would have shopped there to begin with.
And before people bring up bobobie or dollzone – everyone knows you can get a recast that is higher quality than those pieces of shit. Who wants to buy junk?
Are you serious about all this. Like are these words something you stand by, because bruh.
What the fuck.
“My difficult circumstances entitle me to steal (specifically non essential luxury items) from others. I want nice things that are out of my budget, and it’s not really stealing because I don’t want to admit that it is. Also, I specifically don’t want a more budget appropriate version of the luxury items because, status object.”
Did I translate that about right?
“ Do you know how long it would take for someone living on SSI to save up for a legit, let alone justify that price to themselves? “
Yes, I do, because I live on the Dutch version of SSI. Saving up takes time, but is easily achievable with patience.
No matter how hard your life is, it’s not a get away free card to steal luxury items. We are not entitled to owning beautiful items. We’re entitled to air, love, food and a safe, basic shelter, and that’s about it.
And another thing: Items don’t give us happiness. They give us pleasure, which is a short term good feeling that only lasts about a month or 2. So don’t come to me with the ‘poor people deserve happiness too’, because yes. We do. But we’re not going to find it in a piece of plastic.
Still not feeling well (my brain is currently deciding if it wants to do another migraine attack), so that’s why the radio silence. Keeping away from any screen and taking a few days off (so I can sleep) seems like a good tactic now.
