Yeesh… These guys did not age well…

Oof… This is just heartbreaking. I wonder if this was the last picture taken before the park was demolished. It’s the most advanced state of dilapidation of this band I’ve seen, so I wouldn’t be surprised.

One thing I found out about Sally is that they’re always willing to help with their old shows/rides in any way possible. I found this out when Yosemite Sam and the Gold River Adventure had just flooded and there wasn’t any news about whether or not it would reopen. I emailed Sally and asked them if they’d been contacted by Six Flags, and they told me that while they hadn’t been, they’d be more than happy to work on the ride if they were given the chance. I found that really admirable of them, being willing to work on a decades-old dark ride they’d had a hand in producing despite how much time had passed!

That is to say… on the off chance that these guys ended up in the hands of some collector before the park was demolished… there may be a sliver of hope there of them one day being restored. I’m not holding my breath, though, as I’m gonna make the safe assumption that these fellas were destroyed along with the rest of the park. I haven’t heard any reports of them being saved, and usually people in the modern animatronic fandom are pretty vocal about what they have in their possession.

For those unaware, this show was an animatronic show in the now-abandoned Bedrock City, which was a Flintstones-themed roadside amusement park in Custer, South Dakota! This park also had a sister location in Arizona. The show was built in 1996 by Sally Corp (now known as Sally Dark Rides), and entertained guests during the park’s run.
