  1. Write each opponents name on individual slips of paper.
  2. Do not make slits in the beef tongue. Instead cut a hole in the tip of the tongue.
  3. Stuff the papers into the hole. They may stay by themselves, however pinthe hole loosely shut, if necessary or preferred.
  4. Suspend the tongue over a hot fire, with the tip close by not touching the flames.
  5. Maintain this as long as necessary until a verdict is achieved, or not, as the case may be.
