When somebody whines about adult shows being “ugly”
Half the shows they tag in their bitching literally aren’t even ugly. And those that are, really aren’t that ugly compared to a good fist full of 90’s kids shows
forever wishing more people knew that the reason the bigmouth animation style is so goddamn ugly is so that they could make a show about kids going through puberty without them being sexualized
So you guys have probably seen big mouth at some point, whether from the parent complaints or from the constant advertising from Netflix. From cover photos, it looks like another (in a long line of) family guy ripoffs. I watched the first season, and was pretty surprised at the quality of the show itself. But the second season has me fucked up (everyone’s gay and also hormones are god?) Vague spoilers for the second season below.
Here’s just a list, off the top of my head, of what I remember:
- Two characters struggle with internalized homophobia in VERY different forms, one an openly gay boy and another a closeted bisexual
-A girl struggles with her parent’s divorce and depression (I really felt I could relate to the story more than I’d like to as a depressed teen™)
-The same girl struggles with how to maintain her feminist identity when faced with difficult feelings about the girls around her
-Several different girls with very different bodies struggle with their self image
-At the very end, one of the characters is HEAVILY IMPLIED to be a trans girl
TL;DR Big Mouth has a lot of dumb potty humor and is chock full of good representation and a nostalgic plot. PLEASE watch it
Opallionectes was a plesiosaur that lived during the Early Cretaceous of what is now known as Australia. Data suggests that this plesiosaur may have dwelled in very cold waters. Opallionectes may have had blubber as an adaptation for this freezing type of environment. Paleontologists actually found Opallionectes in an opal mine down in South Australia.
Watching the off shoot show from Big Mouth called Hunan Resources, the 2nd episode has references to Alzheimer’s so uh if you have a relative with it, you might cry like I did
Watching the newest season of Big Mouth and as a woman that had back acne seeing Missy pop her back acne with a needle I was like “No, just use the medicated soap twice a week and you’ll be fine. That’s gonna scar and make it worse”
Upcoming drama “Big Mouth” (literal title) starring Lee Jong Suk and Girls’ Generation’s YoonA will be greeting viewers this summer!
“Big Mouth” is a hard-boiled noir drama about a third-rate lawyer who winds up in charge of a murder case that turns him overnight into a genius conman known as “Big Mouse.” In order to survive and protect his family, he must expose a huge conspiracy among the privileged upper classes. Although the drama was originally reported to air via tvN, it was confirmed on April 26 that “Big Mouth” will premiere in July via MBC.
“Vagabond” writers Jang Young Chul and Jung Kyung Soon are listed as creators on “Big Mouth,” and Oh Choong Hwan, who worked on the mise-en-scène for “Hotel Del Luna,” will be working as the director.
Lee Jong Suk will star as Park Chang Ho, a third-rate lawyer with a 10 percent success rate, while YoonA will star as Go Mi Ho, a nurse and Park Chang Ho’s wife. Furthermore, the star-studded lineup consists of Kim Joo Heon as Choi Do Ha, Ok Ja Yeon as Hyun Joo Hee, Yang Kyung Won as Gong Ji Hoon, and Kwak Dong Yeon as Jerry, raising even more anticipation for the upcoming drama.
The production team shared, “Since viewers have waited a long time, we will work hard so that the project doesn’t disappoint their expectations, so please look forward to it a lot.”
