Blackthorns would bleed for their loved ones and never ask for a bandage in fear that the question might upset them.

“When someone shoots you with an arrow, your immediate response isn’t ‘thanks I’ll keep it for a while”

“be the Watson to my Sherlock”

“Too bad, I was gonna name it Magnus. It had sparkly scales”

“Why lie?”

“Lex malla lex nulla, bad law is no law”

Do all the younger Blackthorns think they’ll be moving into Blackthorn Hall eventually?

What about Helen, Aline and Tavvy at the Institute?

Is everyone else assuming they’ll move too?

What about Mark? He can’t move permanently because of the Alliance.

Is this because the younger ones don’t know anything else except the concept of home being together, while the older two know that home is where you make it and family isn’t determined by distance?

Is someone cutting onions?!?

No but I just love the idea of Blackthorn Hall being a sort of safe point for everyone to return to, even if they have their own places of living and the like?

Like, Mark might not be able to permanently stay, but could you imagine the excitement of the younger Blackthorns when they learn that their big brother Mark is coming to stay for a few days?

It’s like how Julian got so excited over Ty coming to visit, and how Dru gets so excited about going to visit.

The time they spend apart makes the time that they spend together infinitely more cherished, and so, even if they aren’t all permanently living together in Blackthorn Hall, it will still feel like home not because of the lengths of time spent there, but because of the memories created

This addition made me think about how all of them maybe want distance from the Institute and the tragedies they endured there, so they make Blackthorn Hall their go-to spot for holidays and gatherings.

A fresh start for all of them to make this decrepit house a home — their home — even if it’s not forever like it will be for Blackstairs.

This makes breaking the curse so much more important in a sentimental/symbolic way. It’s shedding the negative energy that had followed this family since the Dark War and rebuilding a life of love and happiness and peace for all of the Blackthorns with a new safe haven at the center.

It’s not a reminder of all their losses, but a tribute to what they’ve gained.

A fun thing I’ve noticed is that the Blackthorns have always been the sort of keepers of the Black Volume of the Dead.

We know that Annabel’s family had it in Cornwall.

Andrew brought it to the L.A. Institute from London.

Both Julian and Ty had copies of it in TDA.

Technically, Thule!Livvy might have the copy Annabel had to open the portal in QoAaD.

Blackthorns … Black Volume

Reading Secrets of Blackthorn Hall every Monday is making me miss the TDA gang so much… and after a long time without posting, here’s a fanart of the Blackthorns (except for Tavvy) and Emma having a great time outside ☺ I hope this warms your hearts a little bit!! @cassandraclare

“Livia.” Julian’s voice rose, cracking and tumbling over itself like a wave breaking far out the sea.

“Livvy, my baby, please, sweetheart, open your eyes, it’s Jules, I'here for you, I’m always here for you, please, please..”
