Dragging whumpee into the surf to save them, because the ocean is safer than the shore with the tide is rushing in.

Trying to keep their head above the water as the tide rushes in (since they’re not doing so well at it themselves).

Someone found a collapsed whumpee lying in the sand, unmoving… and the tide’s coming in…

You rescued me that day…on the shore…

Do you know what I ran from?

Fleeing mer and human alike…

There is no refuge for me

On land or in sea

I have become nothing more than a helpless in between

And the sea will move on without me
