I played Merchants of the Dark Road this weekend and we were split in our opinions. The components were lovely and the game was enjoyable, for awhile, but it seemed a little long and repetitive. There are familiar mechanics but none are new, which is fine, but it was hard to maintain interest.
I would play it if my friends wanted to, but this one won’t be added to my collection.

I played two games of Persaverance this weekend. One at 4-players and the other at the 2-player count. Both times were excellent and I was able to try two different strategies effectively.
There is a lot going on in the game but it it flows well after the second Assembly scoring.
If my local friends want a teach, now is the time to ask while it is fresh in my mind lol

I had an opportunity to play Spire’s End this weekend & I really enjoyed it! I played cooperatively but I would also play this solo. I love a dark theme, good story & fighting some baddies.
We, unfortunately, met our demise without much loot this game. Next time!

Jekyll vs. Hyde is so good! It’s a 2-player trick taking game which really had me interested from the start.
Dr. Jekyll moves toward Mr. Hyde based on the difference between the tricks won by each player. There is no moving back on the track so one must play wisely!
After three rounds, if the token has not reached the last spot on the track, Dr. Jekyll wins. If it does reach that last spot, Mr. Hyde wins!
Laaaav this game!

We played Boonlake on game day!
I enjoyed vying for “control” of tiles and using other people’s builds to your benefit. I also liked that players were able to take actions, albeit limited, on other players turns. The first game was lengthy but it was a learning game. Overall, a good game and I look forward to playing it again. :)

Star Scrappers: Orbital hit the table this past weekend. We started off playing “nice” and avoided using the Event cards but as the game progressed, there was a lot of module damage.
In phase one, players take turns building modules, operating, upgrading and possibly repairing your modules. In phase two, players gain income, victory points, repair modules and gain more module cards. The game has 5 rounds and most points wins.
I quite enjoy this game but I do find that the Event cards really make a difference in game play.

I was happy to get a Feld game to the table last night. It had been a long time! We decided on The Gates of Loyang as none of us had played it. The game play was just “ok” for us. It seemed too limiting and didn’t maintain our interest. I scored fairly well and I barely obtained the first player position which seems to have been important?
Halfway through the game, players had enough and wanted to pack it up. It was different compared to other Feld games but I don’t know if it is one that I will be keeping.
You may enjoy it if you like open information, limited actions and possibly denying other players their desired actions.

I really enjoy playing The King is Dead. This is the second edition and the board is visibly smaller and the cards have a nice finish. You still have the option to play with more “advanced cards” once you have played it. It still holds up in game play for me. David and I go head to head tonight on YouTube at 7:30PM EDT tonight. :)

Summit: The Board Game is a survival game that can be played cooperatively or competitively. We played it cooperatively on easy mode and one of us made it to the top.
The events and those dice were rough but the game kept us on our toes and we had a lot of fun playing it!
