A Court of Frost and Starlight | Sarah J. Maas | 3 stars

I would never give a book written by Sarah J. Maas anything less than three stars, because her books are always very well written. Having said that, do I think that A Court of Frost and Starlight adds to the overall story in a way that it bridges trilogy one (Feyre and Rhys) with trilogy two (Nesta)? Both yes and no.

I previously mentioned that I am usually apprehensive when encountering a…

A Court of Wings and Ruin | Sarah J. Maas | 4 stars

A Court of Wings and Ruin | Sarah J. Maas | 4 stars
I can never decide which series of Sarah J. Maas I adore more – her Throne of Glassseries or this one. Whichever one I’m currently reading, I prefer, and that’s because they are both really strong on their own. The two stories never overlap, and I don’t think the two protagonists would be friends if they ever met. That is an amazing feat, to create two very different stories and still make both…

I really enjoyed reading The Forbidden WIsh by Jessica Khoury, and I’ve had a bit of trouble finding another book with a Middle Eastern flair that spoke to me in the same way. When I came across The City of Brass, I felt that familiar tingle of excitement. When I saw Laini Taylor and Sabaa Tahir blurbs on the cover, one even referencing Rothfuss, I was done. I read in the Goodreads review…

Sky in the Deep | Adrienne Young

3 stars

I read Sky in the Deep after requesting it as an ARC from the publisher. I’m usually a little reserved when it comes to books about the far past. I can’t really tell you why that is, because one of my favourite books ever since I was sixteen is Clan of the Cave Bearby Jean M. Auel. Maybe because I thought it so amazing that everything else pales in comparison. But there is also the problem of…

Author Julia Goldhirsh weaves a fantastical tale about old wars and magic in her book titled Amy&rsq

Author Julia Goldhirsh weaves a fantastical tale about old wars and magic in her book titled Amy’s Rebellion. Check out my review of this high stakes story.

“This book flowed well and gave us a lot of insight into different point of views by utilizing third person omniscient which I’m a fan of. I think it’s a lot easier to follow storylines when you’re not stuck in the head of one character at a time. There’s a lot of moving parts to this book and a good bit of action, but not all of it makes sense…”

Keeping in the theme of Spooky Season, we have Jaime Munn’s book, Between Tricks: A Dixie Tric

Keeping in the theme of Spooky Season, we have Jaime Munn’s book, Between Tricks: A Dixie Tricks Novel. This story has a lot more than just vampires and has an interesting premise.

“The book was generally fast-paced with a lot of quips and snarky banter between characters. It’s written from Dixie Trick’s point of view as if it’s a journal - sometimes she’s talking to the audience, and other times she’s simply telling her story. She’s down to jump your bones at night and turn you into bones during the day, if you’re a monster of course!”
