“This book flowed well and gave us a lot of insight into different point of views by utilizing third person omniscient which I’m a fan of. I think it’s a lot easier to follow storylines when you’re not stuck in the head of one character at a time. There’s a lot of moving parts to this book and a good bit of action, but not all of it makes sense…”

who inspired your love of reading?

For me, it would be my grandmother. She was a voracious reader and always made sure i had as many books as i wanted. She passed away 2 days after my birthday and its been really rough. When i was approached by #KnoxvilleVoyager to do an interview a out my love for reading, I knew it would be the perfect way to honor her. Wow, it was awkward! And also kind of hilarious to watch people scramble with settings while hiding their eyes and apologizing… but I guess that’s the thing about being in live music. Everything is in the realm of possibility, and the important thing is how to roll with whatever it is.

“Leave the World Behind,” Rumaan Alam: the reviews are polarized, and maybe it’s because the book is set in gray zones: it’s not truly post-apocalyptic because it’s not fully clear if an apocalypse is occurring, and I’m sure that ambiguity got some readers to throw the book at the wall. Our present circumstances are not conducive to more uncertainty, either. Initially, I was annoyed but hung for it to pay off, which it did. Or maybe didn’t? Look, I’m not going to spoil anything, but will tell you the writing was really strong, and the book was definitely thought provoking.

I read it in one sitting while very much enjoying the adapted text by Fred Fordham and lovely illustrations by @ayamorton.art. I will post some of the art on my stories.
