I definitely think these are flash backs. Since maddies not pregnant and has a wedding ring on. So at first I thought oh it’s definitely Doug abusive asshole, but how aware of Doug was Buck? So my theory is that Buck was driving recklessly like daredevil and got into a car accident. The entire episode is explaining why Buck is Buck so I think you need to see how reckyhe actually was.

- What if it’s like a TBI and that’s why he is a daredevil, those make people act differently

- but why would that be painful?

- maybe he accidentally hurt someone as a child?

- adopted, and bio parents have mental health problems?
